8th rebuttal; text/action for Goldenrod (backdated to the 15th)

I hope I remembered that correctly, and I'm sure some of you will recognize it. It's something Kirigiri-san and I found when we explored the Ruins of Alph last year. What do you think of that place? I never cared that much for history back in school but seeing the remains of an ancient civilization was a fascinating experience (though it would have been better without the trapdoors under my feet.)

P.S. Who here plays chess? I'm looking for more people to play with.

(ACTION)
[ It's been over three months since Naegi left Goldenrod to travel around Kanto with Ishimaru, and it's so good to finally be back. This is where his home is, and where his classmates live. It's also where the fuzzball horde is (28 goddamn Eevees), and when he opens the door they all swarm en masse just as expected.

Naturally, the first thing he's going to do is to start petting them all because they are adorable and he's missed them too. c: ]

I don't know anything about all that other stuff, but I do play chess. So does Bertolt if you want another opponent.

I don't know who Bertholdt is but I'd like to play with him, too. I want to improve and learn new strategies by playing with different people.

Ah, those are two subjects I'm rather fond of, myself. I spent a fair amount of time in the ruins when I first arrived, though that inscription has always remained a bit enigmatic to me. ...mostly because if the Unown possess some sort of great insight, I haven't noticed anything of the sort yet.

I'm rather fond of chess, too --- are you interested in correspondence chess, then?

[As it turns out, the Eevees aren't the only ones that have come running when the front door opens; it's not as though they hadn't been in touch over the summer, and naturally they'd seen each other over the Gears and at Hagakure-kun's birthday party, but even so there was still something undeniably special about having returned home at last.

Kirigiri hasn't changed all that much, naturally; it's chilly enough out to justify wearing her coat again, where during the summer months it'd occasionally run too hot for long sleeves.

What has changed somewhat, and probably for the better, is the fact that she's smiling, and it's actually open and genuine — something that still doesn't happen very often, but that apparently is reserved for special occasions.

This, evidently, is a special occasion.]

Naegi-ku—

[She's paused a few steps up from the bottom of the stairs, one gloved hand resting lightly on the bannister, and apparently recognition sinking in has paused the words momentarily on her lips.]

...You're back.

[Presumably sometime after Naegi got back home and once he's finished with a dream reading with his new Munna, Hagakure also comes downstairs to greet the Protag.

...by sneaking up on him and dragging him into a hug. It's more like a headlock but shhh.]

Welcome back, Naegi-chi! Didja miss us?

[Suzu, Hagakure's Chimecho, slides up beside Naegi as well, chiming happily. She doesn't have any idea what's going on for the most part, but this looks like fun so she wants to join in!]

[Chihiro has gotten used to the sound of all of the Eevees moving as one from one place to the other in the house, but he's also learned to recognize the sound of excited clambering to the foyer because someone's here.

He'd been upstairs playing with his Gible, offering him some of the toys that he and Garry bought for their Pokemon during a trip to the department store together. Not wanting to leave the little land-shark unattended, Chihiro makes his way down the stairs with a little difficulty, hefting the Gible in his arms as he heads down.

The Gible watches the Eevees as they try to get Naegi's attention, happily gnawing on a rubber ball that seems to be made of something rather sturdy- like a rubber tire, at the very least- to avoid it needing replacing thanks to those sharp teeth of his. Chihiro waits a little for the Eevees to calm down; his Flareon, Henko, slips around his legs to gently nudge a few of them out of the direct walkway.]

Welcome back, Naegi-kun!

Chess, was it? I'll give you a game! Mind you, I'm not terribly good, but practice should help with that!

That's a good attitude to have. Bertolt is my friend. Turns out he has been in this place for a while, but don't ask me how that even makes sense.

[ Oh no, she's smiling and she's pretty and suddenly it feels as though all of the accumulated weariness from traveling for so long just evaporates and disappears in an instant. ]

It's so good to see you again.

[ BOY THAT SURE IS A HEADLOCK WHY THIS

...Luckily he doesn't seem to mind too much, but still. ]

Y-Yeah, I've missed you guys...

How was it? The chance to see the world, did you...

[But then she pauses.]

[And then, after a moment of obvious and apparent hesitation, she opts instead to leave the thought unfinished in favor of coming the rest of the way down the stairs (nudging carefully through the swarm of Eevees as she goes) to stand in front of Naegi instead.

Another fleeting moment of indecision, this one probably prompted by shyness more than anything else, passes quickly, and resolves itself in favor of a tentative hug, if he doesn't stop her first.

Evidently, she's in agreement on the matter of it being good to see each other again.]

[ The hug is a welcome one and he wraps his arms tightly around her before spontaneously deciding to lift her off her feet and spin her around in a full three hundred and sixty degree turn. ]

Kanto was amazing, Kirigiri-san.

That's all right! I've only played since February so I'm no expert. We can help each other improve.

[...Assuming he's still shorter than she is, this is probably a really interesting spin in a technical positioning sense, but naturally once she figures out what's going on —

(and admittedly, that doesn't happen until after a slight noise of surprise)

Hey, Fujisaki-kun.

[ His greeting comes out in half-laughter; he'd just scooped up three of the Eevees in his arms and the little fuzzballs immediately saw the chance to start licking his face like their tiny little lives depended on it. One of them is even licking the strands of hair within reach. ]

These guys...sure are energetic.

Ruins of the ALPH?! Yes, that place was rather 'interesting'.

Chess? Why I haven't played that since college. But that's besides the point!

That is, there are goats, now, in the barn and on the premises. A veritable herd of goats.

Those Unowns are kind of of strange. The Pokédex says an odd power emerges if two or more are together, but the only power I've seen them use is Hidden Power...

Correspondence chess would be more convenient than playing face-to-face, I think, since a lot of people like to travel around.

They are.

[He agrees with a smile, gently putting the Gible onto the rug after he starts to get too heavy to hold. The Pokemon promptly sits down and takes the toy in his hands, gnawing on it with a happy gurgle.]

They seem very happy to see you.

Who's this little guy?

[ He inclines his head in the Gible's general direction. ]

Ah- this is Horu!

[The Gible lifts his head when he hears his name called, his tail wagging a bit.]

I got him as an egg from Garry-kun a month or so ago.

[And he's been...chewing on things. Not furniture at least, but that's what the rubber toys are for.]

He's cute. [ For a thing that's like 50% mouth filled with sharp teeth, that is. ]

Does he chew on things a lot?
