[ The past few days have been really strange, really. And just when Naegi thought things had gone back to normal, he went ahead and got himself into some trouble. Having some actual good luck is apparently too much to ask for. ]

Can anyone hear this? [ The audio is disrtorted with static, making his voice difficult to pick out. ]

I...I'm stuck on the roof of the tower in Violet City. I don't know how I got here-- I encountered a Pokémon and then I fo-- [ The audio cuts abruptly here for a split second. ] --yself here.

I'd really appreciate some help.

[ He hastily ends the transmission there and hopes for someone with a Flying-type Pokémon to come to his rescue soon. He isn't exactly about to fall to his death any second now, but he'd really rather not sit on this roof longer than necessary. ]

( filtered to Ishimaru and Mondo later that afternoon, video; )

[ The PokéGear seems to be behaving normally now, thank god. Now that he's safe and sound on the ground, he decides to toss up a message for his classmates as there is something he really needs to address. ]

Um, guys...? Please respond as soon as possible-- I found something you ought to see. I think it's from the school.

[ Having said that, he holds up this lovely endgame spoiler in front of the camera. ]

[It's fortunate that Ishimaru has been otherwise occupied for the majority of the day and missed the first message; it would have caused huge amounts of fretting and when he frets, he reads people the riot act whether it was their fault or not and that is not sometihng that one needs when trapped on a roof.

As it stands, however, it's entirely possible that that would have been preferable, at least on Ishimaru's end, becuase that certainly is a lovely endgame spoiler you have there, Naegi-kun; shame that everyone has verified that photographs from Hope's Peak really do not have good implications that come with them. Ishimaru replays Naegi's message a few times, finally pausing it over that picture at the end; he closes his eyes for a moment, just long enough to breathe and refocus, before responding himself.]

Naegi-kun...?

[...awk..ward. Well. Let's at least get establishing the basics out of the way.]

What do you mean, you "found" that?

I just found it in my bag earlier today, Ishimaru-kun. I have no idea how it got there. [ Johto, what are you even doing. ]

Well, it goes without saying that I don't recall ever having such a picture taken - I have no doubt that my brother will say the same!

[However, whether he remembers it or not, the stupid thing obviously exists and he can't come up with any sort of viable explanation for it, and it doesn't help that Johto has been in an undeniable state of "region, u ok" for the last week.]

You aren't the only one to suddenly have something you shouldn't from that school, though - I...may have found something myself last week.

I don't remember anything like that, either. [ But that much was probably obvious already. This picture shouldn't exist, Naegi thinks. But Monobear said those other photos weren't fake... Of course, Monobear is a horrible little shit but still, what if he had actually told him the truth...? ]

What did you find, Ishimaru-kun?

[Not that Ishimaru would ever voice such a thing aloud, because that's probably always going to strike him wrong (even if they are talking about Monobear), but "horrible little shit" doesn't even begin to cover it at this point and it's only been like a week for him.

But for now he simply straightens up a bit, his posture obviously tight even over the video feed; his words are rapid and more than slightly agitated, but he's clearly just trying to get them out there as straightforwardly as possible.]

Those discs we each received - our first motives. I'm sure you remember that well! I found mine among the rest of my belongings earlier, despite not having it on me when I arrived!

T...those motives... There's no way I could forget about them.

[ Naegi tenses at the memory of seeing his living room completely wrecked with his family nowhere to be found. He remembers seeing Maizono's disc, too, and it...hurts a little, thinking about her; he had failed in his promise to protect her, after all. ]

Did Oowada-kun say anything about finding something from the school?

...I haven't spoken to him about it yet.

[He knows he should, certainly, and there's no point in avoiding it, but there's something about exactly what it is he's received that makes the whole thing horribly awkward on a level that even he can appreciate. After all, he hasn't discussed the contents of that disc with anyone, and he doesn't intend to start now - it's a bit too personal to bring up casually.]

I wish I could be of more help to you, Naegi-kun - were the other pictures you found like that one?

They were, yeah-- although they only had three people in each picture, and were taken indoors. [ And the students in said pictures were all dead, but he leaves this unsaid. ]

This one is more like a class photo.

[It takes him a moment to pull up that private video again where he's paused it, his gaze darkening a little with concentration while he looks it over; Naegi certainly does have a point.]

But I didn't know any of these people before arriving at the school, even individually; that we should all have been together like that is strange -

...Who is that girl with Enoshima-kun? The third from the left; I don't remember her. For a moment I mistook her for Celes-kun, but she's standing next to them, isn't she?

I mistook her for Celes-san too, at first. [ It was a little weird, seeing Celes with such...plain clothes, and without those hair drills. ]

I don't have any way to prove it, but I think that girl may be Mukuro Ikusaba, the sixteenth student.

Is there a sixteenth?!

[...Naegi. Naegi, he is from the second chapter and what's this.]

This is new information to me - what do you know about her?!

[ It's another plot twist, Ishimaru. Give him a second to recall what he knows about Ikusaba. ]

She's a Super High-School Level Soldier who used to be a part of the Fenrir mercenary group...

[ He pauses, and: ] We found her body in the garden.

There's really no end to this, is there?

[Okay...okay, look, let him just try to figure out what on earth he's supposed to do with this.]

Have you found out who killed her? No one knew that she was in the school in the first place, did they?

[ Because Dangan Ronpa, that's why. ]

No. We don't know why she was in the school, or why she wasn't present with the rest of us from the beginning. [ Thinking about this is really just making him more confused. He has so many questions but no answers to any of them. ]

We had a trial, but... [ He glances to the side, his mind churning at how to continue this sentence. ] I was voted as the culprit for a murder I didn't commit.

[It's immediately obvious that that's hit him hard; he's jolted forward immediately, gripping the device so hard it's a wonder he isn't breaking it, and it takes him a moment to get himself under enough control to respond at all, much less coherently.]

You said you were fine when you arrived, didn't you?! If there was a wrongful conviction then...what?! Were you taken from before the mass execution?! I don't understand -

[The problem isn't even that there are no words so much as there are entirely too many words; as it stands, he cuts himself off abruptly before he can just...continue screaming into the 'Gear. He's still twitching a good amount; from the look of it he's livid and he doesn't have a solid target to direct it at.]

[ Okay, Naegi should've seen this coming and thought this all the way through before saying they voted for the wrong person. ]

M-Monobear forced us to vote before we were done discussing, and...then he said they voted for the right person, even though that wasn't the case. The trial was a trap. Then he dragged me off to...

[ His hands are shaking a little and he tries to keep his voice steady. He doesn't need his mind replaying "Detention" in his head when he'd rather just forget about it. ]

...I survived, though.

[Well, if Ishimaru were more rational than he is when he's worked up (and less...Ishimaru, let's all be honest with ourselves), he would have been able to at least say that the misunderstanding was justified, given that, you know, Naegi'd nearly just been killed there. Unfortunately, Naegi is going to have to deal with him being a mess for a little while longer, but at the very least the new information seems to have calmed him somewhat. He's not completely placated, but at the very least he seems a little less willing to continue freaking out in Naegi's general direction, though his words have become very, very tight.]

S-So...to your knowledge, everyone else is safe, and you're still alive. But the person behind this - whoever they are - thought they could...benefit, I guess? From having you removed from the proceedings. Is that it?

The others are safe...I'm sure of it. I don't know why the mastermind wanted me gone, but they must've had some sort of reason for breaking their own rules to get rid of me.

Whatever reason they may have had isn't an excuse - defying the rules that were set down for us in the first place is completely unforgivable!

[...well, the whole thing is completely unforgivable but you know what he meant.]

Nothing like that is going to touch either you or my brother here - I can promise you that much! Even if it's no longer possible back home, I intend to do whatever I can for both of you, and for any of our classmates that may join us!

[ He may be weird as hell and prone to yelling and Naegi will probably never fully understand the guy or how he can be so intense all the time but goddammit, he is a good person and a good friend. ]

[And for a moment it's incredibly clear that Ishimaru has no idea what to do with that; while his sense of eye contact is often tenuous at best anyway - he's usually focused somewhere over a person's shoulder as opposed to looking straight at them - it's completely gone now, shot somewhere low and just off to the side of the device. There's still a severe edge to his expression (because really, when isn't there) but...well. He definitely isn't displeased by that, all right.]

I'm very glad to hear that from you, Naegi-kun.

[He seems to recover a bit from that bout of uncertainty, now that he's found something to say.]

It's good to have you around as well, of course! I think it's very fortunate that we're here together, and I...I'm very grateful to have met you in the first place.

[ Naegi seems pleased to hear that, and offers him a small smile. ]

You too, Ishimaru-kun. I just wish we had met under different circumstances.

[ But that probably goes without saying -- any other circumstances would've been a vast improvement over the hellhole that is Hope's Peak. ]

So what do we do with the photo? Is there a way to check if it's been edited?

[Well...well, yes, there's not much denying that...

However, that question seems to catch him a bit off-guard; he doesn't really even consider such things most of the time.]

That question is likely better suited for Fujisaki-kun, as I'm sure she would know; I haven't spent much time around computers beyond what's required for school, and that would be the most obvious way to do it, right?

[...the fact that he has to question that is kind of cementing the sheer amount of "hell if I know" in the answer, but...details...]

Fujisaki-san isn't here yet and it might take a lot of time before she arrives, though. [ He brings a hand to his chin, thinking about what to do. ]

If she shows up, I'll ask her, but in the meantime I think I should look into it elsewhere. I'd really like to know for sure.

Of course - and naturally, I'll be interested in whatever you manage to find out, if anything.

[The entire business is odd; the longer he thinks about it, the less sense it makes, really.]

It seems a lot of trouble to go through, editing something like that - I don't see what the purpose would be.

I don't either, to be honest. [ No matter how he looks at it, nothing about the damn thing makes sense at all. If it's fake, then what is the purpose -- and if it's real, how and when was it taken? This is going to be a thing that will keep him up at night, that's for sure. He really could use Kirigiri and her brain right about now. ]

There has to be some reason behind it, but who knows what the mastermind is thinking?

There are reasons, Naegi-kun, but they don't seem to have any real point behind them - the only reason images like that would exist in the first place would be to make it seem like we knew each other before the incident. Right? We all would have had to have been together in the same place for those pictures to be taken.

What I mean by there being no point is that we all know it's not true. Why bother showing us something like that if we all know there's no way the pictures can exist?

It's possible he was just trying to screw with us. I was the only person who saw those other pictures since he took them away almost immediately...

Why leave them around in the first place, then, if he's just going to -

While I shouldn't expect too much from anyone so willing to do such hideous things, this would be much simpler if his actions made any sense at all!

[One of the people he's spoken to here has said that this entire situation is obviously calculated, by someone with a lot of time and resources on their hands to plan it out; Ishimaru has a hard time reconciling that with the fact that this person has to be completely and utterly insane to even consider doing it in the first place.]

[Mondo isn't very good at keeping up with the 'Gear, which is probably a good thing in this case. Had he known Naegi was on the roof of the tower, he would have attempted a rescue mission. Which would have left Naegi on that roof for a few weeks, whoops.

Anyway, Mondo frowns at that picture, trying to figure out what it could mean.]

[...You might notice that he's wearing a different coat today, Naegi. It's white instead of black, though there are still intricate designs over the shoulder and back.]

Is it photoshopped or something?

[It looks pretty realistic though. If it's shopped, it's a damn good one.]

[ Naegi notices the new coat, but he doesn't go out of his way to mention it. It's cool and all, dude, but this is more important. ]

In my bag. It's possible that it's fake, but why would anyone go through the trouble of doing that? There are easier ways to mess with people.

Yeah, that's very true. Maybe it's got something to do with how weird everything is?

Maybe. We don't know exactly how this place works or why things are glitching out, so I wouldn't rule out that possibility.

Maybe it's best just to ignore it for the time being. Who knows, it could just be something completely irrelevant! I mean, fuck, it's pretty stupid to think that we'd be tricked by something like this. We didn't know each other before we showed up in that fucking school.

I don't think it's something I can just ignore, Oowada-kun. I wouldn't put it past Monobear to make something like this just to mess with us, but it could be important somehow.

So it's from the school, and it's possible that it's something Monobear did to freak us out or something. Or maybe there's more to it... either way, there's probably some reason why this specific item showed up, right? I mean, I got something really important to me from back home, so I guess maybe this is pretty important, right?
